A business website rebuild and backend cleanup project focused on improving design, consolidating hosting, and stabilising DNS and email services.
Overview
This project involved rebuilding a company website while also resolving the hosting, DNS, and email issues tied to the previous setup.
The Director wanted a refreshed website but did not want to commit to the ongoing costs of platforms such as Wix or Squarespace, so I moved forward with a custom solution using my understanding of basic web design and AI-assisted development.
Alongside the redesign, I cleaned up the backend environment by consolidating hosting, correcting DNS records, restoring missing cPanel functionality, and implementing proper email authentication.
Key implementation points
- Rebuilt the company website with a custom design approach
- Aligned the frontend with the team’s preferred red, yellow, and black branding
- Validated visual design choices through team feedback and voting
- Corrected DNS records, including an A record pointing to the wrong provider
- Consolidated hosting and domain services under a single provider
- Restored access to SSL and MX record management within cPanel
- Set up business email hosting and shared access to the info@ mailbox
- Implemented SPF, DKIM, and DMARC to improve email deliverability
Outcome
The result was a cleaner and more reliable web presence backed by a properly configured hosting and email environment. This project reflects a practical mix of frontend design, platform troubleshooting, and small-business infrastructure support under real-world constraints.
