Project Summary
Production Studio Infrastructure
A small-business internal infrastructure project designed to centralise services, improve internal access, and introduce more structured IT foundations in a growing production environment.
Overview
This project documents the design of a lightweight internal service environment for a film and production company using existing hardware and a limited budget.
The goal was to move away from fragmented workflows by introducing a centralised, self-hosted stack for internal tools, documentation, file access, and password management.
Services were kept internally accessible through local networking and VPN-based remote access, with a simple landing page to make the environment easier for non-technical users to navigate.
Key implementation points
- Built around a Docker-based application stack
- Centralised access to internal tools through a landing page
- Deployed services such as Vaultwarden, Wiki.js, BookStack, Nextcloud, and Excalidraw
- Restricted access through LAN and VPN-based connectivity
- Used reverse proxying and internal DNS to improve usability
- Designed with practical constraints, existing hardware, and business usability in mind
Outcome
The project served as a practical foundation for introducing structure, internal service availability, and more deliberate IT design into a fast-moving creative business. It also reflects how I approached infrastructure with both usability and security in mind, rather than treating it as a purely technical exercise.
